Ok, I’ll admit it — when I first stumbled upon Paperback Paradise on Instagram (not to be confused with our own forthcoming feed), it took me a minute to realize something was off. At first glance, it looks like an innocent used book store hawking its wares online, as each caption consists only of a price (usually $1-4, not bad!). But upon further inspection, it becomes clear that your favorite editions of The Babysitter’s Club, Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, and dozens of other romance, sci-fi, and fantasy novels been ingeniously photoshopped. (You can even purchase their merch.)
These classic covers suddenly take on new, often dark twists: the babysitters are plotting murder, the Sweet Valley twins are getting called out for their white privilege, and the Hardy boys are now having very NSFW adventures. I won’t include some of the more explicit titles here, but be sure to check out them out on your own (if you dare).
BTW: This might ruin your childhood, but you’ll be laughing so hard you probably won’t care.
