Sidebar: Okay, for starters, I am so behind on reading goals this year it’s not even funny. I’m still concentrating on penning reviews for Salvage the Bones, The Vegetarian, Everything I Never Told You, and as of today, I should be expected to have a write-up on Ruth Ware‘s The Woman in Cabin 10. Ugh, is anyone else experiencing writer’s block right now? Because this is my life.

On a brighter note, though, Belletrist just had a pretty rad (yes, gotta bring this word back, btw) interview-slash-girl-talk with book club kick starter Karah Preiss and author Mira Jacob (The Sleepwalker’s Guide to Dancing) this past week (June 2) to chat about her debut novel, Marlena, another book I am in between reading.

In true patheticism (a real wordsmith, I am), I haven’t really been reading as diligently as I’m accustomed. Of course, editing, writing and you know, necessary sleeping patterns tend to get in the way of that. However, after watching this interview with Buntin, it’s really got me inspired to learn what all the fuss is about concerning Marlena. God-willing, I hope to do so within the next week or so because it’s been collecting dust for a while. Damn my bad biblio habits!

If you’re unlike me and have already plowed through the book club’s previous picksJoan Didion‘s Southwest for March/April and Marlena for Maythen here’s a sneak peek at the club’s next selection, which will be revealed this Thursday, June 8.

While I’m sure I know what the book title is, I’m not going to give it away here. But, if you’re curious to know more, the author’s name may or may not have the initials C.M.!

Tell us what you thought of Marlena! Did you like Belletrist’s interview with Julie Buntin?
Also, if you think you know Belletrist’s next pick, share your thoughts and theories in the comments!
