If you enjoyed author Celeste Ng‘s debut novel Everything I Never Told You (Paris said he “devoured [it] as one does a solitary chocolate cake”), chances are you’ll fall just as hard for her highly anticipated follow up, Little Fires Everywhere. Like its predecessor, the new novel takes place in a quiet Ohio town (this time it’s Shaker Heights, a well-to-do Cleveland suburb), and follows the drama that unfurls after several events threaten the neighborhood’s status quo.

About Little Fires Everywhere:

Enter Mia Warren – an enigmatic artist and single mother – who arrives in this idyllic bubble with her teenaged daughter Pearl, and rents a house from Elena Richardson. But Mia carries with her a mysterious past and a disregard for the status quo that threatens to upend this carefully ordered community. Soon Mia and Pearl become more than tenants: all four Richardson children are drawn to the mother-daughter pair.
When old family friends of the Richardsons attempt to adopt a Chinese-American baby, a custody battle erupts that dramatically divides the town–and puts Mia and Elena on opposing sides. Suspicious of Mia and her motives, Elena is determined to uncover the secrets in Mia’s past. But her obsession will come at unexpected and devastating costs.

; Happy Friday!! I'm really excited about this book now as my next read (I know I said Lies she Told would be my next read but hear me out). I'm taking a new class at my school called Contemporary World Literature and we read books from all over the world translated and such or by specific authors. Our teacher lets us pick our own reading book for independent reading but she has some guidelines and this was one of the books that could be read! I was originally gonna pick The Last Bohemians but honestly when I saw that list, i couldn't wait and changed it because I showed her my list yesterday and she didn't say anything about it. So super excited for this one and huge thanks to @bookofthemonth for it! + We have to make a book project on newly released books coming out in 2017 and ahhhh + Loving my @s_planners though for school! One of the best planners especially for how our classes are structured! + I just realized the lighting ont his is messy with my theme but whatever 🙃
