Written as a collaboration between Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, Good Omens has been in talks of receiving an adaptation for years. Although films and television series have been rumored to be in the works over the years, a Good Omens adaptation is finally being produced through Amazon.
While Gaiman and Pratchett made an agreement that all things Good Omens would be decided upon and produced jointly, after a posthumous letter from Pratchett requested his co-author go through with an adaptation on his own, Gaiman set out to make the adaptation a reality.
Set to be released on Amazon Prime Video in 2018 according to Variety, the American Gods novelist is in charge of the upcoming Good Omens adaptation, which will be a 6-part mini-series featuring hour-long episodes. Gaiman will serve as showrunner for the series and will be at the helm for developing the script.
Often described as an apocalyptic comedy, Good Omens follows a fussy angel named Aziraphale and a demon named Crowley as the world is coming to an end.
According to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch (the world’s only completely accurate book of prophecies, written in 1655, before she exploded), the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just before dinner.
So the armies of Good and Evil are amassing, Atlantis is rising, frogs are falling, tempers are flaring. Everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon—both of whom have lived amongst Earth’s mortals since The Beginning and have grown rather fond of the lifestyle—are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture.
And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist…
Today, Variety announced that David Tennant (Harry Potter and Dr. Who), and Michael Sheen (Masters of Sex and Twilight) would be joining the cast for the upcoming adaptation. Tennant is expected to play the role of the demon, Crowley, while Sheen will be playing the angel, Aziraphale.

Not much else is known about the upcoming adaptation, but fans can expect to see Good Omens on Amazon sometime next year.
