A little over a month ago it was revealed that an adaptation for Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s collaborative effort, Good Omens was in the works. Set to be released as a mini-series on Amazon Prime Video and BBC Two, casting choices have slowly been revealed following the announcement of main characters, Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and Crowley (David Tennant).

Gaiman, who is serving as the showrunner for the series, has been offering small hints at what’s to come in the upcoming adaptation on Twitter, which started last week with glimpses at the names of new cast members.

BBC has confirmed the new members of the cast of Good Omens, adding Adria Arjona, Nina Sosanya, Ned Dennehy, Ariyon Bakare, Jack Whitehall, Miranda Richardson (Harry Potter) and Michael McKean to the line up.

Following all of the recent announcements, Gaiman has taken to twitter to reveal that filming for the series has begun, and that the series should premiere in 2019. Furthermore, he has been using the social media platform as a means of providing fans with a first look at the series, featuring images of David Tennant and Michael Sheen as Aziraphale and Crowley, among others.

Equal parts humor and fantasy, Good Omens is a show that fans have been eagerly awaiting for a very long time, as the novel was originally published back in 1990. As Gaiman himself is in charge of the script, it is no surprise that he has had active communication with fans where the adaptation is concerned. Since filming began, he has been posting regular updates from the set and is encouraging fans to discuss what they would like to see.

While fans still have quite a long wait to see the adaptation for themselves (according to Gaiman about 17 months), all of these recent announcements have us excited to see what’s next.
