Congrats are in order for Orange Is the New Black lovebirds, Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli!
Wiley and Morelli officially tied the knot on Saturday (March 25) in a romantic ceremony in Palm Springs, California, Martha Stewart Weddings reported.
The couple first met while working together on the hit Netflix TV series, Orange Is the New Black, based on American memoirist Piper Kerman’s book of the same name. On the show, Wiley portrays the humorous but conflicted intimate Poussey Washington, and Morelli was made one of the shows’ lead writers for its first season.
While the pair openly identifies as lesbian, Morelli didn’t learn of her sexuality until 2014, when she started writing for the characters on the show. Amidst her awakening, the writer divorced her husband of two years, Steve Basilone, and began dating The Handmaid’s Tale actress shortly after. On October 4, 2016, the couple announced their engagement on Instagram.
According to MSW, the reception was also quite the non-traditional extravaganza, decked out with “colorful, confetti-themed” decorations to honor the couple’s shared obsession with Funfetti cake (how cute!)—the vision brought life by Beth Helmstetter Events. To set the fun-filled mood, the pair’s stroll down the aisle was introed by the sounds of Justin Bieber’s “Baby” and Montell Jordan’s “This Is How We Do It.”
Be on the lookout for more behind the scenes details of Wiley and Morelli’s springtime wedding in an upcoming issue of Martha Stewart Weddings.
