After the publication of two books (City of Ghosts and Vengeful), multiple issues of The Steel Prince graphic novel, and the announcement that her debut novel, The Near Witch, would be reprinted, all of which occurred in a single year, it came as a surprise when Victoria Schwab took to Twitter this week (January 10) to announce the second installment in the Cassidy Blake series – Tunnel of Bones.
Setting a strong foundation for a horror-infused middle-grade series in City of Ghosts by introducing Cassidy Blake and her strange ability to traverse the line between living and dead (otherwise known as the Veil), it was immediately clear that Schwab’s first foray in the children’s category would not be her last.
The first installment, which reveals that Cassidy is touring haunted cities around the globe with her ghost-hunting parents who are filming a television show (The Inspecters), leaves ample room for opportunity, and Tunnel of Bones is just another stop in Cassidy’s adventure according to the brief summary provided by Schwab on Twitter.
Trouble is haunting Cassidy Blake . . . even more than usual.
When she accidentally awakens a terrifyingly strong spirit in the City of Light, she’ll have to rely on friends new and old to set things right, or the force she’s unleashed will haunt Paris forever.
Tunnel of Bones, book two in the Cassidy Blake series, is set to hit shelves on September 3, which is an amazing turnaround considering the fact that City of Ghosts hit shelves in early fall of last year (August 28).
The announcement came alongside a gorgeous cover reveal that showcases the eerie, haunting tone of the series and features artwork by Baily Crawford.
For fans hoping to see a bit more from Schwab this year, she also revealed that she has numerous projects facing deadlines in 2019 – three novels, eight issues of The Steel Prince, and four short stories!
